Autometronicschool. - Although there are many Capacitor Discharge Ignition or CDI that sell in the auto market, but if you want to make by your self you can do it. In here will show you one electronic circuit diagram for Capacitor Discharge Ignition (CDI) for Motorcycle like in figure 1 below.
Circuit Diagram
Component Part
All of the component of CDI for motorcycle you can see like in figure 1. The main component to create this CDI is SCR or thyristor, you can replace the SCR NT151 with FIR3D and the similar SCR series.
Description
Let follow the circuit performance below to know more about this electronic diagram of CDI for motorcycle:
- Voltage and coil generator (Generator) charge the capacitor C1 (and C2) and to flow through the diode D1 to the primary winding. While D2 described above is used to drain the back-flow of the ignition coil after the capacitor is empty.
- Two 1 mw resistor coupled to the second leg series capacitor (C1) is used to clear the capacitors if SCR is not disabled. It is used as a security feature that prevents electric shock when you connect the capacitor. It takes about 2 seconds for a total of a capacity to discharge the capacitor until it reaches a safe value.
- Has provided 2 storage capacitor (discharge) on the PCB which can be downloaded at the link below, which is to position C1 and C2. We used to use two capacitors or two capacitors 0.47mf 1mF. A capacitor with a high capacity to produce a better spark energy and greater, provided that the generator windings (generator) is able to charge a capacitor with a maximum in the time required.
- Pulser gives signal to trigger the SCR. When a positive voltage to flow from the pulser, then asupa voltage will trigger the SCR gate through a 51 ohm resistor and diode D3 (D5 written on a series of images). D3 prevents the reverse voltage of the gate while the 51 ohm resistor to limit the voltage flowing to the gate in order to safely drain voltage value. A 1k ohm resistor serves to connect the gate to ground (past) this is to prevent false triggering, while the 100nF capacitor to filter the noise and transients that can cause the SCR is triggered at the wrong time.
- A switch (kill switch) is used to turn off the generator by way of a current to ground so that the motor stopped operating. (Source: RealAutoTips.net)
