John Dunn, general manager of fixed operations for Progressive Auto Group, said the automated wash station being built at 2030 Wales Road NE — the former location of Friendly’s restaurant — will be called Star Wash and have something unique to car washes — a sparkling light display.
“It’ll have an LED light show going on inside the machines while the wash is running,” Dunn said. “It might even stop some traffic on Wales (Road).”
Dunn said work on the company’s new car wash began in April and should be finished by mid-August. It will likely will open full time in September. The more than $3 million wash center is being built by Fred Oliveri Construction, and will mark a new way of cleansing vehicles."
